Sushi night!

Before I left for work last night, I snacked on some baked Kettle chips…no pics!

First break I had peach/mango tofu…you’ll be seeing a lot of these coming up because they were on sale at Safway and I bought a few…

Second break was for lunch…tuna and Darvida crackers and vegetables with dill pickles…

It was the quietest night of all that I had this stretch…lovely:)  I came home and slept till about 12.  Woke up and had the same breakfast as the day before…Activia, Bran Buds, Quaker Oatmeal Squares and banana…

And then I went out into the beautiful day and took a walk to get my special dinner for tonight!  I also stopped at Sobey’s before hand and stocked up on some veg, egg whites, fruit salad (the Sobey’s has the most beautiful fruit salads and prepared fruit.  Pricey but sometimes I can’t resist), turkey breast and back bacon.  I plan on experimenting with some higher protein breakfasts this week so you won’t see so much cereal.  It’ll still be there, just not every day.

And onto my delicious dinner…I treated myself to a couple pieces of green onion cake before my main.  Yum.  Love green onion cake.  I had one more piece after this just cause it was so good.  Not healthy, but I feel like treating myself.  My main was a salad of bean sprouts, shredded carrot, and cucumber with a mini California roll.  I had sesame sauce to dip my sushi in.  It’s actually for the salmon rice bowl at the Japanese place I go to, but I love it on my cali roll.

And now I’ve been watching the Oscars and taking a blogging break during the “less interesting” awards:)

See you tomorrow!

I slept today…yay:)

Last night was a steady night…nothing weird happening just a constant stream of specimens.  I kind of like it that way, as long as I can still get my  breaks…yes I NEED my breaks or I get very pissed:)

I was HUNGRY at first break (13o am or so)…so I had my tuna, cheddar and vegetables…

Yes, I never get tired of tuna.  I have dozens of cans of different kinds in my pantry.  They’re such an easy and yummy source of protein.

Second break I needed some light carbs…time for a packet of Cream of Wheat…vanilla sugar on top…

I came home, took my pill, and slept INSTANTLY!  I woke up about 1030am to go to the bathroom, and I was just coming back down to bed when my doorbell rang.  Jehovah’s Witnesses were at the door:)  Here I am in my skimpy nightgown, my sleep mask on top of my head, drugged and dizzy, and I answered the door.  Not thinking clearly I guess.  The lady asked me if I had time to talk despite my appearance.  I just said “I’m on night shift and I am going back to bed”.  She handed me an Awake magazine and left.  Honestly, one of these days I do want to spend some time talking to one of them about their reasons for not taking blood transfusion.  As a person in the laboratory field who works in blood bank, I wonder why they’ll take certain components and not others.

Back to bed til 1pm…woke up and had Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Bran Buds, Activia and banana…

After breakfast I went back to bed and slept til 330pm.  Lovely:)

And dinner was the last of my turkey on a flax bun with light spinach cream cheese and vegetables…

Last night shift tonight…yay:)  I can’t wait to come home and sleep.  And then it’s Oscar night tomorrow.  I have to watch them every year.  I’m going to get some sushi and salad for dinner, or maybe go to the Vietnamese noodle house and pick something up.  I will have a delicious dinner and curl up on the couch.

Next week it’ll be back to my normal food and exercise schedule…can’t wait!

Two more nights to go…

leave a comment »

Last night wasn’t too busy, just busy enough to keep me from looking at the time:)

Anyways, I started off the night with some peach-mango tofu…yum! I had this on my first break.  I wanted to save my heavier food for my later “lunch” break so I wouldn’t be as hungry when I got home.

For my lunch break, I had some tuna (plain with light mayo) and Darvida sesame crackers.  Vegetables to go with of course…

I slept badly again.  I don’t know what it is lately when I’m on nights…I just don’t sleep like I used to.  And that wasn’t very good to begin with.

Breakfast was bran buds, Corn Bran, banana, and milk….

And dinner was a turkey sandwich on flax bun with light vegetable cream cheese (again!) with some veg and pickles on the side…

I finally broke into the Valentine’s chocolate my boyfriend bought me…

And this round of nights I don’t have the energy to do anything…no running or strength training.  I likely won’t do that til the next few days are over.

Til tomorrow:)

Night eating…

leave a comment »

When I’m on night shift, I like to eat the same things I eat for lunch…lots of protein and veg with some light carbs and maybe fruit thrown in.

Like my tuna, cheddar and veggies:)  I had this about 130am.

A couple hours later we went for another break and I had some Activia….

We try to get in one more break before the shift ends but it doesn’t always happen, and it didn’t last night.

I’m always starving starting at around 530-6am.  This is when I have breakfast normally.  I try not to eat when I get home, but I’ve found something light keeps me asleep longer, and if I have to eat a couple extra points, so be it.  I had a packet of Cream of Wheat with a sprinkle of vanilla sugar.  It was yummy.  I think I’ll make it my regular bedtime nightshift snack.

And I went to bed about 745.  I tried not taking a sleeping pill like I usually  do.  I don’t have problems falling asleep, it’s staying asleep. I just wasn’t even falling asleep, so I popped my Imovane and drifted of until about 2pm.

Woke up and had this: Corn Bran, Bran Buds, and banana.  I added milk to this.

I had some breakfast for dinner at about 630pm…1/2 sesame bagel with light vegetable cream cheese, scrambled egg (1 whole egg and 1/3 cup egg whites), carrots and cucumber.

I could probably fall asleep right now, I didn’t sleep long enough today.  Can’t wait for the night to begin and be over.  I’m on the blood bank side tonight, which is my least favorite area to work in.  Hope it’s quiet…

Night shift starts tonight….

leave a comment »

Sorry for no post yesterday…I had a session with Gail and then had some dinner.  Then it was time for two hours of “Lost” and then I was too tired to post:)

I start 4 nights starting tonight (11pm to 715am).  I woke up too early of course, and had the last of my Puffins, with the Bran Buds, Activia, and banana…

I managed to fall asleep again for about an hour and a half (from 930 to 11am).  I had some lunch around 12.  Sandwich thin, hummus and veg…

And my last sugar free Jello pudding a couple hours later:)

Dinner was another simple meal of a turkey sandwich….a flax bun with light veggie cream cheese, two ounces of turkey and lettuce…and veggies of course:)

And all I’ve been doing today is resting up for work tonight.  I try to take it easy so I don’t tire  myself out before my first night.  I usually don’t nap (I can’t nap on purpose, the fact I went back to sleep this morning suprized me), so I am up for 24 hours plus my first night.  I honestly don’t know how I manage sometimes considering I’m a very early to bed person, but I do.

Bringing my camera to take pictures tonight of course.  See you tomorrow:)

Back to work Monday…

Back to work today…

Breakfast…Activia, Puffins, Bran Buds and banana…

Lunch was lemon dill tuna, Balderson cheddar, raw veg, and some pomogranate applesauce for dessert…

Dinner was a proper meal tonight.  I think having this blog will be a good thing for me and encourage me to sit down to hot food on occasion:)  Most of the time I don’t go through too much effort.  Not that this was hard, but even this is more than I usually do.  I had some rice with Bragg’s seasoning and sesame seeds (Rooster brand rice, the best brand, and only available at Superstore), some lemon pepper sole from M and M Meats, and some sauteed zuchinni.  It was a nice filling, and relatively healthy meal.  I have enough left over for tomorrow, so expect the same:)

And I had the last Icy Square from my Christmas stash for dessert….

Yum, I love those things.

No running today…got home late and actually COOKED.  I have a session with Gail tomorrow though.  I can’t wait to see what she has in store.

Tonight on TV I’ll be watching “The Big Bang Theory”.  I love this show, it never fails to make me laugh.  Any fans out there?

Til tomorrow:)

A bittersweet day…

leave a comment »

Today is kind of a bittersweet day…one of those days where you have a great time but in the back of your mind you realize it’s back to the grind tomorrow.  Sometimes working for a living just really sucks:)

I woke up around 7, and had the same breakfast I’ve had the past couple days…:)

Tomorrow it’s yogurt on the cereal though…I just wanted to use up my milk:)

I then got a call from my mom around 8 asking me if I was busy today.  I had no plans, so she came over and we went to Costco.  I stocked up on my favorite baby cukes and tomatoes, and come yummy looking dried berry mix I thought would be great in some oatmeal.  I really wanted some fresh blueberries and raspberries like I bought last weekend, but there were no berries of any kind in the cooler.  I’ve decided the ONLY time to go to there is Saturday right as it opens, when everything is stocked and fresh.

We shopped at Southgate mall for a while, and had lunch at A&W.  I was so tempted by a Teen Burger and fries and gravy, but I was good and had a grilled chicken sandwich and salad (only 6WW point for that…pretty good).  My mom had the Teen and fries though.  She is maintaining her weight loss very well though, so she could afford the splurge.  I did call her mean however:)  I think in another few weeks it’ll be time to give in to my craving.  I do allow it every couple months.  Sometimes you just have to do it.   And I forgot my camera…no pics.  Sorry:)

And also unpictured was some honey wheat pretzels while watching the Canada/US gold medal game.  I never watch sports, but we decided to watch the last period.  I did call it when I said it would tie at the last second and go into overtime.  But I was wrong when I said the US would win.  I’m such a postive person.  But yay Canada:)

And dinner was some flax pita and hummus with veg.

So tomorrow it’s back to work (I’m on days tomorrow and Tuesday and nights the rest of the week), so hopefully I’ll remember to bring my camera.

Have a good night.
