A blogging break
I know I just started this blog, but I’m going to take a little time out from it. I’m really enjoying doing it, but I’m getting a little frustrated. Everyone I know pretty much thinks I’m nuts to even care what I eat. Even when I first started Weight Watchers last January, and I would track in my food journal, they still couldn’t undertstand why I would have to. Trying to explain the concept of keeping track of food and exersize to maintain weight loss is really pointless to people who don’t care about either. I know I shouldn’t care what people think, but I’m just getting tired of having to explain why I do it. So I’m going to just go back to my food journal for a bit, and think about whether I want to continue.

Today I ate more than I should have!
Today Andy came over to spend the day with me. Before he came, I was up at my usual hour, and had my cereal and banana with milk today (Bran Buds and Quaker Oatmeal Squares).
He didn’t arrive til about 4 hours later. Just before he came I ate some pineapple.
When he got here it was about noon. He said he would be here at 11am…and technically he was. He forgot about daylight savings time…as did I until I turned on the TV when I was eating breakfast:) And he was so proud he was on time for once:) I told him he actually was on time! And he was rushing around and didn’t eat breakfast except for a banana. He was hungry. So we went and grabbed lunch at the Safeway sandwich place. I had some turkey on a Flat Out wrap with veggies, since I was ready for lunch anyways.
We bummed around Southgate mall for a bit, then went to the Italian Centre Shop. I bought some olive oil, balsamic vinegar and multigrain bread. We looked at all the delicious pastries and got some sort of poppy seed thingy and a canolli. Haven’t had any yet. Andy decided that we should make Greek salad for dinner. We picked up some sheep feta and Kalamata olives for the salad, and a loaf of olive cheese bread. This was the result…I had a small bowl of salad, some bread (I went back for a crust afterwards…bread is my weakness! I also have a chicken drumette from Sobeys…Andy chose those when we went to get a few veg for the salad.
And now we’re relaxing. I’m sure I will have a taste of those Italian pastries. I’ll take a picture of them.
It wasn’t a horrible day of eating, but I feel like I’ve been bad today.:) Well, we all have those days I guess. Back to tuna and cheese and crackers tomorrow!
A productive day…
This morning I was awake very early as usual. And breakfast was the same as the past few days:)

I spent the morning washing floors, vacuuming, dusting, and doing laundry. Productive!
Lunch was cheese and flatbreads with veg again…it was so good yesterday I wanted it again:)
I had an afternoon snack of some fresh pineapple. I buy it already cut up at Sobey’s just cause I’ve gotten tired of doing it myself (the enzymes in the fruit make my hands burn), and I can buy a small amount. I also dipped into the baked Kettle chips again. Darn those things.
And dinner is some brown rice California from the Sobey’s sushi bar. I’m currently letting the chill come off a little (ice cold sushi is never good), and will go eat as soon as I’m done this post:) This is what I bought for yesterday’s dinner, but didn’t eat. It’ll still be OK today.

I love Friday when I have the weekend off:)
Ah Friday is such a lovely day when you actually don’t have to work the weekend. I’m always in such a good mood. I was busy last night with laundry and stuff, so I didn’t post. Nothing too exciting…I did have some fish and baked sweet potato fries for dinner…it was pretty good.
Breakfast was Oatmeal Squares, Bran Buds, Activia and banana.
Lunch was flatbreads, Laughing Cow wedges, my usual container of veggies, and a Babybel. A cheese and cracker lunch. I’d forgotten how much I just love crackers and cheese for lunch. Expect to see a lot of it coming up. That and flatbreads and hummus. I bought a huge box of flatbreads at Costco a couple months back and just dug into them now. So yummy with cheese and hummus.
Afternoon snack was some strawberries.
For dinner, I had a back bacon and egg sandwich on a flax bun. I did pick up something at the Sobey’s deli, but I got home and REALLY wanted a bacon and egg sandwich. I’d been craving it for a while. I do like back bacon (“Canadian” bacon for any Americans reading my blog!), but I do love a good quality thick cut regular bacon the best. I haven’t had that in a good year or more though. Unless it’s in my once every couple month Teen Burger from A&W! Anyways, my sandwich was absolutely delicious.
I don’t know what my plans are this weekend. Tomorrow will probably be my catch up on housework and relax day.

Back to cereal Wednesday…
Had to do it…I missed my cereal. Kashi Go Lean Crunch, Bran Buds, and banana with milk….
Today I was in blood bank. Nothing to exciting happened…that’s always good:)
Lunch was tuna and veg…
With some Activia and strawberries after…I was too full and finished my berries on my last break…
There was a little bit of fruit salad underneath the berries…not much left.
Dinner was my half turkey wrap and spinach salad. I also had some baked Kettle chips beforehand. I really don’t know if I should keep them in my house anymore. Chips are my biggest weakness and once they’re opened I just want to eat them all. And I buy the big bag at Costco too…bad girl me:)
Another early to bed night tonight. Two more days left til the weekend…not that I’m counting. And I’m actually starting at 7am tomorrow rather that 730. It’s amazing how much longer starting that half hour later can make the day feel. If I had a choice, I would love a 6am shift. I like to work and get it over. Yes, I love my job:) (I do like it, but still, if I didn’t have to work, I wouldn’t. Who would, really?:)
Back to days Tuesday…
Back to day shift today. I’m still in night shift mode though…I had a hard time sleeping last night.
Breakfast was one egg plus 1/3 cup egg white scrambled, and a piece of Squirrley bread and raspberry double fruit jam…
It was a nice change for breakfast…but tomorrow I think I have to have my cereal. I’m just too addicted:)
Coffee break I had some fruit salad…
Lunch was the usual tuna, cheddar, and veg. I also had some Activia yogurt after…
Dinner was a half turkey wrap from Safeway (the other half will likely be lunch tomorrow), a handful of baked Kettle chips, and some vegetables.
Tonight, two hours of Lost, and hopefully a good night of sleep. It has to happen eventually!
Turned back around…
I actually got to sleep at night…when you’re done a stretch of nights being able to go to bed when normal people do is such a luxury. I went to bed after the Oscars….10pm. I wasn’t falling asleep so I did take a pill. I slept til 730am this morning! I haven’t slept that late in months. I guess I really needed it.
Woke up and had a cereal breakfast. It’ll be the last one for a couple days at least. My bananas are green and I have to have a banana. This is Kashi Go Lean Crunch and Bran Buds. Milk was added after.

Lunch was some spicy Thai chili tuna and vegetables…
And some blueberry Activia…
I ran this afternoon, but only 20mins. (2.58K avg 8.4K)…I just couldn’t do anymore. I hope to go for my usual 30 or longer tomorrow. I’m still recovering from nights. I was falling asleep on the couch but I made myself wake up cause I need to sleep tonight. Back to days tomorrow. Joys of full time shiftwork is NO turn around time between shifts. The part timers have it easier that way.
Dinner was breakfast….scrambled egg and egg white on an english muffin with spinach cream cheese and veg…
I think eggs are on the menu for breakfast in the morning too. I could live on breakfast foods. Cereal, oatmeal, eggs, waffles etc. I love it all. As you can tell I only eat typical “dinner” food occasionally.
Tonight it’s House and The Big Bang Theory, and back to my usual early bedtime:)
Sushi night!
Before I left for work last night, I snacked on some baked Kettle chips…no pics!
First break I had peach/mango tofu…you’ll be seeing a lot of these coming up because they were on sale at Safway and I bought a few…
Second break was for lunch…tuna and Darvida crackers and vegetables with dill pickles…
It was the quietest night of all that I had this stretch…lovely:) I came home and slept till about 12. Woke up and had the same breakfast as the day before…Activia, Bran Buds, Quaker Oatmeal Squares and banana…
And then I went out into the beautiful day and took a walk to get my special dinner for tonight! I also stopped at Sobey’s before hand and stocked up on some veg, egg whites, fruit salad (the Sobey’s has the most beautiful fruit salads and prepared fruit. Pricey but sometimes I can’t resist), turkey breast and back bacon. I plan on experimenting with some higher protein breakfasts this week so you won’t see so much cereal. It’ll still be there, just not every day.
And onto my delicious dinner…I treated myself to a couple pieces of green onion cake before my main. Yum. Love green onion cake. I had one more piece after this just cause it was so good. Not healthy, but I feel like treating myself. My main was a salad of bean sprouts, shredded carrot, and cucumber with a mini California roll. I had sesame sauce to dip my sushi in. It’s actually for the salmon rice bowl at the Japanese place I go to, but I love it on my cali roll.
And now I’ve been watching the Oscars and taking a blogging break during the “less interesting” awards:)

I slept today…yay:)
Last night was a steady night…nothing weird happening just a constant stream of specimens. I kind of like it that way, as long as I can still get my breaks…yes I NEED my breaks or I get very pissed:)
I was HUNGRY at first break (13o am or so)…so I had my tuna, cheddar and vegetables…
Yes, I never get tired of tuna. I have dozens of cans of different kinds in my pantry. They’re such an easy and yummy source of protein.
Second break I needed some light carbs…time for a packet of Cream of Wheat…vanilla sugar on top…
I came home, took my pill, and slept INSTANTLY! I woke up about 1030am to go to the bathroom, and I was just coming back down to bed when my doorbell rang. Jehovah’s Witnesses were at the door:) Here I am in my skimpy nightgown, my sleep mask on top of my head, drugged and dizzy, and I answered the door. Not thinking clearly I guess. The lady asked me if I had time to talk despite my appearance. I just said “I’m on night shift and I am going back to bed”. She handed me an Awake magazine and left. Honestly, one of these days I do want to spend some time talking to one of them about their reasons for not taking blood transfusion. As a person in the laboratory field who works in blood bank, I wonder why they’ll take certain components and not others.
Back to bed til 1pm…woke up and had Quaker Oatmeal Squares, Bran Buds, Activia and banana…
After breakfast I went back to bed and slept til 330pm. Lovely:)
And dinner was the last of my turkey on a flax bun with light spinach cream cheese and vegetables…
Last night shift tonight…yay:) I can’t wait to come home and sleep. And then it’s Oscar night tomorrow. I have to watch them every year. I’m going to get some sushi and salad for dinner, or maybe go to the Vietnamese noodle house and pick something up. I will have a delicious dinner and curl up on the couch.
Next week it’ll be back to my normal food and exercise schedule…can’t wait!
Two more nights to go…
Last night wasn’t too busy, just busy enough to keep me from looking at the time:)
Anyways, I started off the night with some peach-mango tofu…yum! I had this on my first break. I wanted to save my heavier food for my later “lunch” break so I wouldn’t be as hungry when I got home.
For my lunch break, I had some tuna (plain with light mayo) and Darvida sesame crackers. Vegetables to go with of course…
I slept badly again. I don’t know what it is lately when I’m on nights…I just don’t sleep like I used to. And that wasn’t very good to begin with.
Breakfast was bran buds, Corn Bran, banana, and milk….
And dinner was a turkey sandwich on flax bun with light vegetable cream cheese (again!) with some veg and pickles on the side…
I finally broke into the Valentine’s chocolate my boyfriend bought me…
And this round of nights I don’t have the energy to do anything…no running or strength training. I likely won’t do that til the next few days are over.
